Il Sedum (L., 1753) è un genere di piante succulente appartenente alla famiglia delle Crassulaceae, diffuso in tutti i continenti ad eccezione di Oceania ed Antartide.

Descritto per la prima volta da Linneo nel suo Species Plantarum, con sole 15 specie al suo interno, ad oggi ne comprende 457, per la maggior parte concentrate nel bacino del Mediterraneo ed in Messico, il che ne fa il più ampio genere all’interno delle Crassulaceae.

Sedum (L., 1753) is a genus of succulent plants belonging to the Crassulaceae family, widespread on all continents with the exception of Oceania and Antarctica.

Described for the first time by Linnaeus in his Species Plantarum, with only 15 species within it, to date it includes 457, for the most part concentrated in the Mediterranean basin and in Mexico, making it the largest genus within of the Crassulaceae.
